Distribution of Noradrenergic Neurons in the Locous Ceruleus and Subceruleus Region of the Apodemus agrarius

Abstract
The distributions and morphological characteristics of neurons displaying immunomactivity to the catecholamine synthetic enzymes tyrosine hydyoxylase(TH), dopamine-¥â-hydroxylase(DBH), and phenylalanolamine-N-methyltransferase(PNMT) were examined in the adjacent sections of the locous ceruleus and subceruleus region in the Apodemus agrarins.
In cresyl violet stain, locous ceruleus and subceruleus of the Apodemus agrarius were located in ventrolateral part of the 4th ventricle. Most neurons of the locous ceruleus and the subceruleus were oval shape. All of the neurone in the locous ceruleus were noradrenergic neurone(TH- & DBH-positive, PNMTnegative). Also large oval shape immunoreactive neurons in the trigeminal nucleus were noradrenergic. Noradrenergic immunoreactive nerve fibers were not observed in the locous ceruleus because of high density of the immunoreactive neurone. But in the external part of the locous ceraleus immunoreactive nerve fibers were observed.
All of the neurons in the subceruleus were noradrenergic neurons(TH- & DBH-positive, PNMT-negative). The noradrenergic neurons in the subceruleus were divided into 2 groups : dorsal group and ventral group. In the dorsal group, the shape of noradrenergic neurons were multipolar shape and the well-developed immunoreactive nerve fibers. The ventral group was located between superior part of the lateral superior olive and medial part of the sensory root trigeminal nerve.
